The International Animation Film Market (MIFA), held in conjunction with the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, has issued a call for projects to the 2016 edition of the international animation marketplace and pitching events.
Celebrating its 31st year in 2016, MIFA is a major event in the world of animation, long-established as one of the leading events on the industry calendar. As the biggest animation festival in the world, Annecy is the can’t-miss annual appointment for animation professionals and fans alike. MIFA takes place June 15-17, 2016, with the International Animation Film Festival to be held June 13-18.
The 2015 edition of MIFA had a 10 percent increase in accreditations, with a rise in delegates from North America and Latin American countries like Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Brazil. Last year saw 297 pitches submitted, from which 31 TV, short, feature and transmedia projects were selected to be pitched during MIFA 2015.
The pitch sessions at MIFA provide a great opportunity to pitch projects in the earliest stages of development to affiliate partners and funders attending the international animation marketplace. Selected projects receive free MIFA accreditation, support and professional expertise, and a 10-minute pitch slot in front of a public audience comprised of animation professionals.

Short films, features, TV series and specials, and transmedia projects are all eligible for submission, with partners awarding prizes to selected projects in each category. The deadline for submissions is February 12, 2016.
Previous projects that have received funding through MIFA include Jung and Laurent Boileau’s animated feature Approved for Adoption, and the Cesar-nominated short from Iran, Beach Flag, by Sara Saidan.
